The Wolf Cross and the EMA Crosses

Part 7 ยท Oct 20, 2026

You have met golden and death crosses. This lesson introduces the three crosses the course actually trades by.

The Wolf Cross: SMA 8 and SMA 55

The yellow 8 crossing the white 55. Up through it is bullish; down through it is bearish. On the weekly it is rare and heavy; on the daily it is frequent and lighter; on the four-hour it is a tactical read. The author calls it the strongest cross in the method and notes that a bearish daily cross has often been followed by weeks of sideways or down price. "Often" is the right word: look at the history yourself before you believe it.

The lesson chart paints both lines and marks every 8/55 cross with an arrow, haloing the latest. Step through 1D and 1W and count how many bullish crosses led to a real leg up, and how many printed late or reversed within a few bars. That ratio is the honest value of the signal.

The 13/34 EMA cross

The teal 13 and the pink 34. Same reading, faster, used as confirmation of the Wolf Cross rather than on its own.

The two 200s

The light-green 200 EMA and the dark-green 200 SMA. The exponential average reacts faster, so in a rising market it sits above the simple one, and in a falling market below. The course reads EMA 200 above SMA 200 as the long-term bullish configuration and the reverse as bearish.

The workflow

  1. Check the Wolf Cross on the daily.
  2. Confirm with the 13/34 on the daily.
  3. Check the two 200s for the long-term bias.
  4. Drop to the four-hour on the Technical Analysis chart for timing.
  5. Only then look for an entry.

Screening the market for it

The Scanner has a Wolf Cross preset: every coin whose 8 SMA crossed above its 55 SMA in the last five weekly bars. Switch it to daily or four-hour bars, or flip the cross to bearish, in the criteria builder. Each result row has a bell that creates a Wolf Cross alert rule for that coin, so the next cross reaches your notification centre.

In the lab

Run both markers on the weekly. Find a stretch where the Wolf Cross and the 13/34 agreed, and one where they disagreed. Then open the Scanner, run the Wolf Cross preset, and write the top three results in your journal with the date. Check back in a month.
